Ultrasound, EMS and red light for early-stage tone
Deeper firmness plus daily muscle tone
Radiofrequency first, micro-infusion second, one routine
The one-handset routine
Lumo⁺ pairs radiofrequency with EMS and red light in a single handset, for the visible loosening along the jaw and neck, where radiofrequency reaches deeper than microcurrent or EMS alone.
Match the device to the layer, not the price
Skin loses firmness in the dermis and in the muscle underneath, and eyelid skin is a job of its own. Each device is built for one of them.

In their words
5.0“I've had my Evenskyn Lumo for a few months now and after using it 2 - 3 times a week, I've noticed significant improvement in the jowl and neck area. Also my skin tone is more vibrant.”
Wendy O., 75 · Lumo⁺ review
5.0“I am 57 and have been using the Lumo for 8 weeks now, first just once a week, but now 2x a week and my skin is definitely tighter.”
Tammy L. · Lumo⁺ review
5.0“My skin definitely looks better. Fewer wrinkles around my eyes, and my skin looks glowy. So far, so good, and I’m only a few months in. I’m 46.”
Sally K. · Venus review
At-home skin tightening, and what the energy is actually doing
Skin loses firmness for two separate reasons, and most people are dealing with both at once. The dermis thins and its collagen network loosens, and the muscle underneath loses tone. Those are different problems in different layers, which is why one device cannot be the answer for everyone.
At-home devices address them with three technologies. Radiofrequency warms the deeper layers of skin to support the look of firmer, tighter skin over a course of sessions. Microcurrent and EMS act on facial muscle rather than the dermis, producing a more lifted, contoured look. Ultrasound works mechanically at the surface and just below it, and is usually paired with one of the other two rather than used alone.
The three technologies are not interchangeable
They are marketed as though they compete. They do not. They act on different tissue.
| Technology | What it acts on | Best suited to | Device |
|---|---|---|---|
| Radiofrequency | Deeper skin layers, through controlled warming | Visible loosening along the jaw, neck and cheeks | Lumo⁺ |
| Microcurrent | Facial muscle tone | Lift and contour, and maintenance between other treatments | Phoenix |
| EMS | Facial muscle, through electrical muscle stimulation | Tone and contour, alongside the other energies in the same handset | Eclipse, Lumo⁺ |
| Ultrasound | Surface and immediate sub-surface | Tone and texture at an earlier stage | Eclipse |
| Combined RF, EMS and light | All of the above in one handset | People who want one device rather than a routine of three | Lumo⁺ |
Match the device to the stage, not to the price
- Skin still firm, thinking about prevention. The ultrasound and EMS Eclipse tones and lifts without heat-based tightening. Starting with radiofrequency at this stage is not wrong, but it is more device than the job needs.
- Everyday maintenance and contour. The Phoenix microcurrent bar keeps facial muscle toned, and is the easiest of the range to keep up with because sessions are short.
- Visible laxity along the jaw or neck. The Lumo⁺ pairs radiofrequency with EMS and red light. Radiofrequency reaches deeper than microcurrent or EMS alone, which is what this stage needs.
- Crepey eyelids and under-eye texture. The Venus is sized and powered for eyelid skin, which is thinner than the rest of the face and is not what a full-face handset is built for.
- Both firmness and lift. The Lumo⁺ and Phoenix pairing covers the dermis and the muscle in one routine, which is the combination most people end up at anyway.
How to run a course without wasting it
- Use a water-based conduction gel, every session. Without it the energy scatters at the air gap and the head drags rather than glides. This is the single most common reason a device underperforms, and it is not an upsell, it is the medium the energy travels through.
- Frequency beats intensity. Three short sessions a week does more than one long one. Turning the level up to compensate for skipped sessions does not work.
- Give it eight to twelve weeks before judging. These devices are cumulative. Occasional use rarely produces visible change, and most people who conclude a device did nothing stopped inside the first month.
- Do not stack two heat-based treatments on the same area back to back. Build the week around the most intensive treatment and let the lighter ones fill the gaps.
- Put radiofrequency before micro-infusion, never after. On a micro-infusion evening, radiofrequency can run first as a warm-up, with the conduction gel rinsed off before the MicroInfuser™ goes on. After micro-infusion, wait at least 24 hours before any radiofrequency, EMS or ultrasound. The Lumo⁺ and MicroInfuser™ duo is built around that order.
Honest about what these will not do
At-home devices run at lower output than clinic equipment, which is exactly what makes them safe to use without supervision. The trade is intensity for frequency: results build over weeks rather than arriving in one appointment. They do not reach the depth of a clinical radiofrequency or ultrasound system, they will not resolve moderate to severe laxity, and they are cosmetic devices rather than treatments for any diagnosed condition. Deep static lines, significant sagging and anything medical belong with a clinician.
Regulatory clearance varies by device and by the specific claim, and it is stated on each individual product page rather than asserted for the range as a whole. Check the product you are considering.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, or are being treated for a skin condition, speak to a doctor before using any energy-based device. Do not use radiofrequency over metal implants or fillers without clinical advice.
Common questions
Which skin tightening device should I start with?
For visible loosening along the jaw or neck, the Lumo⁺, because radiofrequency reaches deeper than microcurrent alone. For prevention and tone while the skin is still firm, the Eclipse or Phoenix. For the eye area specifically, the Venus. Buying the most powerful device in the range is not automatically the right first purchase.
Does radiofrequency skin tightening work at home?
At-home radiofrequency runs at lower output than a clinic system, so it works more gradually and depends on running a full course rather than a single session. It supports the look of firmer skin over weeks of consistent use. It is not equivalent to a clinical treatment and it will not produce a surgical result.
How often should I use a skin tightening device?
Most protocols run around three times a week for the first eight to twelve weeks, then drop to maintenance. Follow the guidance for your specific device rather than using it more in the hope of faster results.
Can I use more than one device?
Yes, and most complete routines do. Keep the most intensive treatment as the anchor of the week and space the others around it. Never run two heat-based treatments on the same area back to back.
Do I really need the conduction gel?
For radiofrequency, microcurrent, EMS and ultrasound, yes. The energy needs a conductive medium to cross from the head into the skin. Running these devices dry reduces the treatment and drags on the skin.
How long do results last?
Results from energy-based devices are maintained rather than permanent. Skin continues to age, so most people keep a reduced maintenance schedule after the initial course instead of stopping entirely.
