How Much Does RF Skin Tightening Cost in 2026?
Prices read 11 October 2026 · all prices in US dollars (USD) · by the EvenSkyn editorial team
Clinic skin tightening with radiofrequency or ultrasound usually costs four figures a session in the US. Published averages are $1,207 to $3,188 USD for Thermage (two sources that disagree), $2,408 USD for Sofwave and $2,609 USD for Ultherapy. XERF is new to US clinics and is quoted at $1,250 to $3,000 USD a session for the face and neck. Most are sold as one session, or two for XERF, with upkeep suggested every 6 to 12 months.1, 2, 3, 4, 6
At home, our Lumo+ costs $499.99 USD once. At two sessions a week that works out to $4.81 USD a session in year one. It runs at much lower energy and it is not a clinic treatment, and this page shows exactly what the gap in price buys you.
What RF and ultrasound skin tightening costs per session, by treatment (2026)
Three things set the price: the machine, the area treated and the city. Here's each treatment side by side, with a source and a date on each number. Where the sources disagree we print both numbers and say so.

Thermage, XERF, Sofwave, Ultherapy and Morpheus8 are trademarks of their owners, named for identification only. No at-home device, ours included, is equivalent to any of them. The survey and RealSelf figures cover Thermage of any generation. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons counted 439,032 nonsurgical skin tightening procedures in 2024 and lists no fee for them, which is why this page leans on a cost survey, review-based averages and clinic price lists.14 Morpheus8 uses needles, so its course math lives on the microneedling cost page, not here.
What a course costs once you count sessions and upkeep
Most of these are sold as a single session, so the first bill is the session price. The real total depends on how often you go back. Here's the math for a few common cases, using only the published figures above.
| Scenario | Math (USD) | Total (USD) | Source, date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thermage, 2026 survey average, one session | 1 session × $1,207 | $1,207 | Synchrony via CareCredit, 17 Jul 20261 |
| Thermage, RealSelf average, one session a year for 3 years | 3 sessions × $3,188 | $9,564 | RealSelf, updated 3 Oct 20242 |
| XERF, Phoenix clinic, two full-face treatments | Package price for 2 | $3,000 | Phoenix Skin, modified 11 Aug 20267 |
| XERF, magazine range, two sessions on face and neck | 2 × $1,250 to 2 × $3,000 | $2,500 to $6,000 | Bustle, 8 Apr 20266 |
| Sofwave, RealSelf average, one session a year for 2 years | 2 sessions × $2,408 | $4,816 | RealSelf, updated 8 Sep 20233 |
| Ultherapy, RealSelf average, one session | 1 session × $2,609 | $2,609 | RealSelf, updated 15 Jun 20234 |
| Lumo+ with one gel bottle, 2 sessions a week for a year | $529.99 ÷ 104 sessions = $5.10 a session | $529.99 | evenskyn.com, read 11 Oct 202616 |
| Lumo+ device only, 2 sessions a week for 3 years | $499.99 ÷ 312 sessions = $1.60 a session | $499.99, plus the gel you use | evenskyn.com, read 11 Oct 202616, 17 |
Then there's upkeep. RealSelf says to budget for Thermage maintenance every 6 to 12 months, the maker describes an annual maintenance program, and one Sofwave clinic we read advises a session every 12 months.2, 9, 10 Insurance is unlikely to help: non-surgical skin tightening is a cosmetic procedure that is not typically covered.1
What at-home RF costs: the Lumo+ per session over 1, 2 and 3 years
You pay for an at-home device once, so the cost per session falls every week you keep using it. The formula is simple: price ÷ (sessions per week × 52 weeks × years).
The Lumo+ is $499.99 USD today, against a compare-at price of $649.99 USD on the product page. We use the price you'd actually pay.16 The schedule is EvenSkyn's own: the product page says 5-minute sessions, 2 to 3 times a week, and its usage table gives 1 to 2 sessions a week under 40 and 2 to 3 over 40, each 5 to 8 minutes, at least 48 hours apart, with no more than 25 minutes of RF a week.16, 18
| Schedule | Over 1 year | Over 2 years | Over 3 years |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 session a week | $499.99 ÷ 52 = $9.62 | $499.99 ÷ 104 = $4.81 | $499.99 ÷ 156 = $3.21 |
| 2 sessions a week | $499.99 ÷ 104 = $4.81 | $499.99 ÷ 208 = $2.40 | $499.99 ÷ 312 = $1.60 |
| 3 sessions a week | $499.99 ÷ 156 = $3.21 | $499.99 ÷ 312 = $1.60 | $499.99 ÷ 468 = $1.07 |
| 2 a week, bought with one gel bottle | $529.99 ÷ 104 = $5.10 | $529.99 ÷ 208 = $2.55 | $529.99 ÷ 312 = $1.70 |
The gel is a real cost, and we can't give you a per-session number for it
The product page says a water-based conductive gel is required for the RF and EMS modes. Ours is $49.99 USD for a 300 mL bottle, or $79.99 USD for two, and the Lumo+ comes with one bottle for $529.99 USD.16, 17 EvenSkyn doesn't publish how many sessions a bottle covers, so we haven't guessed one. Add the bottles you expect to buy in the calculator below. The product page also says any RF-compatible or ultrasound gel works.
Two more honest caveats. The two and three year columns assume the device keeps working and you keep using it, so check the warranty terms before you count on year three. And a session at home is not a session in a clinic, which is what the limits section below covers.
RF skin tightening cost calculator: clinic vs at home, 1 to 3 years
Pick a clinic treatment, how often you'd go and for how long. Each treatment starts at a published figure, and you can move the price to match your own quote. The at-home column uses the Lumo+ store price. Everything runs in your browser.
| Total | Per session | |
|---|---|---|
| Clinic, 1 session | $2,198 | $2,198 |
| At home, 104 sessions | $529.99 | $5.10 |
| Clinic minus home | $1,668.01 | $2,192.90 |
Clinic: Thermage FLX, 1 a year × 1 year × $2,198 = $2,198. At home: $529.99 ÷ 104 sessions (2 a week × 52 weeks × 1 year) = $5.10 a session.
Not the same treatment. Clinic machines run at higher energy under a trained provider; the Lumo+ is a lower-energy at-home routine for the look of firmer skin. Compare the money here, then read what each one buys below. Starting prices: Thermage $2,198 is the midpoint of the two published averages ($1,207 and $3,188), XERF $2,125 is the midpoint of the published $1,250 to $3,000 range, Sofwave $2,408 and Ultherapy $2,609 are RealSelf averages. Clinic sessions default to one a year, and two for XERF.
What at-home RF won't do
A $4.81 USD session buys a gentler, lower-energy routine. Here's what it doesn't buy, before anyone else has to tell you.
- It won't match a clinic machine. Clinic devices run at higher energy under a trained provider's control, which is why a single session can be sold on its own. At-home RF runs at lower energy by design, so it can be used without supervision.19 Our own product page says the Lumo+ “is not equivalent to an in-clinic treatment.”16
- It isn't one and done. Clinic treatments are sold as one or two sessions.2, 7 The Lumo+ is a routine: 5-minute sessions, 2 to 3 times a week, and the product page says to give it about three months of consistent sessions before judging.16
- It isn't an answer to a lot of loose skin. The American Academy of Dermatology says skin tightening procedures work best on a small amount of sagging, and that with a lot of sagging skin tightening may not be helpful.13 At-home RF is cosmetic upkeep for the look of firmer skin, nothing more.
- It isn't RF microneedling. No needles and no broken skin. The FDA calls RF microneedling a medical procedure, not a cosmetic treatment, and says those devices should not be used at home.15
- It isn't free to run. Conductive gel is required, at $49.99 USD a 300 mL bottle, and we don't publish how many sessions a bottle covers.16, 17
- It isn't always the cheaper choice. If you'd have one $1,207 USD session and never repeat it, and you'd use a home device for a few months and stop, the gap gets small. Run the calculator with your real habits.
Which route is right for you
Pick by how much change you want and how much routine you'll keep, not by the price tag alone.
Book a clinic consultation if
You have more than a little sagging, you want one supervised treatment instead of a weekly routine, and you can budget four figures a session plus upkeep. The American Academy of Dermatology calls a board-certified dermatologist the safest way to find out what skin tightening can do for you.13
Look at RF microneedling if
You're weighing a needle treatment such as Morpheus8, which RealSelf lists at $1,870 USD a session on average.5 Clinic only. Our microneedling cost guide has the course math and its own calculator.
Start at home if
You want the look of firmer, smoother skin, you'll keep a 5-minute routine two or three times a week, and $499.99 USD once fits better than $1,207 USD or more a session. It can also sit between clinic visits if your provider agrees.
Ask a doctor first if
You're pregnant, have a skin infection or take certain medications: the American Academy of Dermatology says a skin tightening procedure isn't right in those cases.13 For the Lumo+, the product page says to avoid active breakouts, cysts and open wounds, to keep off the thyroid at the front of the neck, and to talk to your dermatologist first if you have rosacea.16 Read the manual before you buy.

How much does RF skin tightening cost?
For branded clinic treatments in the US, expect four figures a session. A 2026 national survey of cosmetic practices put Thermage at $1,207 USD on average (range $911 to $1,948), while RealSelf members report $3,188 USD on average (range $1,500 to $7,900). XERF is quoted at $1,250 to $3,000 USD a session for the face and neck.1, 2, 6
How much does Thermage cost?
It depends on the source. The 2026 Synchrony survey published by CareCredit puts the national average at $1,207 USD, with a range of $911 to $1,948. RealSelf's average from 186 member reviews is $3,188 USD, with a range of $1,500 to $7,900 (page updated October 2024). One New York clinic lists $1,800 to $2,600 USD by area.1, 2, 8
How much does Sofwave cost?
RealSelf lists an average of $2,408 USD and a range of $900 to $4,000 (page updated September 2023). One Southern California clinic we read lists $1,800 USD for the full face and $3,000 USD for face and neck at regular price. Most people are sold one session, and some clinics suggest a second 4 to 6 weeks later.3, 9
How much does Ultherapy cost?
RealSelf's average from 847 member reviews is $2,609 USD, with a range of $1,000 to $5,000 (page updated June 2023). A 2026 national survey puts ultrasound skin tightening of any brand at $861 USD on average, range $637 to $1,392. The two don't agree, so get a written quote for the area you want treated.1, 4
How much does XERF cost?
We found no survey average and no RealSelf average for XERF yet. Bustle reported $1,250 to $3,000 USD a session for the face and neck in April 2026, and about $500 to $800 USD for the jawline alone. One Phoenix dermatology practice lists $3,000 USD for two full-face treatments and $1,500 USD for each one after that.6, 7
What is the cheapest skin tightening treatment?
Among the clinic treatments on this page, the lowest published average is ultrasound skin tightening at $861 USD in the 2026 Synchrony survey, then Thermage at $1,207 USD in the same survey. Per session an at-home device costs far less, $4.81 USD for the Lumo+ in year one, but it runs at lower energy and it is not the same treatment.1, 16
How long do RF results last?
Thermage's maker says results can last 1 to 2 years, and RealSelf says the same. XERF results are described as lasting 12 to 18 months. None of them is permanent, which is why upkeep every 6 to 12 months is suggested. At-home RF is sold as an ongoing routine, not a one-time result.2, 6, 10
How does radio frequency work?
A device is placed against the skin and heats the tissue beneath it, and the body makes collagen in response over time. The American Academy of Dermatology says most people have one in-office treatment, feel some tightening right away and see the best results in about six months.13
Is RF good for a saggy neck?
It depends how much sagging there is. The American Academy of Dermatology says skin tightening procedures work best on a small amount of sagging skin, and that with a lot of it skin tightening may not be helpful. That's a question for a board-certified dermatologist. An at-home device is for the look of firmer skin only, and the Lumo+ should not be used directly over the thyroid at the front of the neck.13, 16
How long is a Thermage session?
The maker says most treatments take 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area. RealSelf gives 30 minutes for small areas and more than 90 for larger ones. An at-home Lumo+ session is about 5 minutes, two to three times a week.2, 10, 16
How many times can you get Sofwave?
Most people are sold a single session. Sofwave's own guidance for providers says additional sessions may help depending on age and skin condition, and RealSelf says results aren't permanent and maintenance treatments are recommended. One clinic we read advises a maintenance session every 12 months.3, 9, 12
How often can you do RF skin tightening on your face at home?
Follow your device's manual. For the Lumo+, the product page gives 5 to 8 minutes a session: 1 to 2 sessions a week if you're under 40 and 2 to 3 if you're over 40, at least 48 hours apart, and never more than 25 minutes of RF in a week.16, 18
Does insurance cover RF skin tightening?
Usually not. CareCredit's 2026 guide says non-surgical skin tightening is a cosmetic procedure that is not typically covered by insurance, so plan to pay the full cost yourself, including any upkeep sessions.1
Is at-home RF cheaper than a clinic?
Per session, by a lot: $4.81 USD for a Lumo+ session in year one at two sessions a week, against published clinic averages of $1,207 to $3,188 USD a session for Thermage. In total the gap is smaller, because you buy the device up front and need conductive gel. It also runs at lower energy, and the product page itself says it is not equivalent to an in-clinic treatment.1, 2, 16
How much does the Lumo+ cost per session?
The Lumo+ is $499.99 USD (read 11 October 2026). Price divided by sessions: at two sessions a week that's $4.81 USD a session over one year (104 sessions), $2.40 USD over two years (208) and $1.60 USD over three (312). Conductive gel is required and costs extra: $49.99 USD for a 300 mL bottle.16, 17
How we priced this, and what we sell
We read every price on 11 October 2026 unless a source date is shown. Clinic prices come from a 2026 national survey of cosmetic practices (Synchrony, published by CareCredit), RealSelf's review-based averages, one magazine report and three clinic price lists. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons' 2024 statistics report counts these procedures but lists no fee for them. Where two sources disagree we print both. We found no reliable national average for XERF, so we show the two published figures we could read and nothing more. Local prices vary a lot, so get a written quote for your area before you budget. Lumo+ and gel prices come from our own product pages, and the usage schedule is the one on the Lumo+ product page.
What we sell: EvenSkyn makes the Lumo+ and the conductive gel. We earn nothing from any clinic, brand or treatment named here. This page isn't medical advice. For significant sagging or any skin condition, see a board-certified dermatologist.
