The gel does the whitening. MatureSmile™ uses 6% carbamide peroxide, which breaks down into about 2.1% hydrogen peroxide and releases oxygen that breaks down stain molecules from coffee, tea, wine and tobacco. The LED is what lets a session finish in 16 minutes instead of the hour a tray-only approach can take; evidence that light adds shade change over gel alone is mixed.
On sensitive teeth, concentration and contact time matter more than the brand. A low-dose gel used for short sessions tends to cause less sensitivity than a strong gel worn for an hour, and potassium nitrate in the gel calms the nerve signal inside the tooth. Research on peroxide whitening at consumer strengths generally finds minor, reversible surface changes to enamel, but no peroxide whitener can claim zero effect, and we do not make that claim.
How long until I see results, and how much whiter will my teeth get?
It depends on the stain. Surface staining from coffee, tea, wine and tobacco responds best. Intrinsic discolouration from age, medication such as tetracycline, or trauma responds much less, and sometimes not at all.

What do the blue and red + blue light modes do?
Blue light is the standard whitening mode. The red + blue mode runs red light alongside the blue. In both modes the gel does the whitening, and the light is what lets a session finish in 16 minutes.
How often should I use MatureSmile™, and what's the recommended treatment schedule?
One 16-minute session a day for the first seven days, optional every-other-day sessions through day 14 for stubborn staining, then one or two top-up sessions a month or before an event.
More frequent use does not produce proportionally whiter teeth and does raise the chance of sensitivity. If your teeth feel sensitive, spacing sessions further apart usually helps more than shortening them.
What types of stains does MatureSmile™ work best on, and are there any it can't remove?
It works best on surface stains from coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco and food. Yellowing from age responds more slowly and less completely, because part of that colour is the dentin under thinning enamel showing through.
Intrinsic discolouration from medication such as tetracycline, or from trauma, responds much less, and sometimes not at all. Crowns, veneers and bonding do not change colour.
What should I avoid eating and drinking after using MatureSmile™, and for how long?
Skip coffee, tea, red wine and dark sauces for about two hours after each session, while the enamel is most receptive to re-staining. This window matters most during the first week of daily sessions. Water is fine.
Can I use MatureSmile™ with dental work, sensitive gums, or other oral health conditions?
Crowns, veneers and bonding will not change colour. If you have restorations in your smile zone, the usual sequence is to whiten first, let the shade settle for about two weeks, then have restorations matched.
Do not use it with untreated cavities, cracked teeth or braces. Ask your dentist first if you are pregnant or nursing, or have exposed roots, gum recession or active gum disease.
How do I use the kit and look after the LED mouthpiece?
Rinse your mouth, brush a thin, even layer of gel onto your teeth with the pen, then insert the mouthpiece and switch it on. The session runs on a 16-minute timer. Afterwards, rinse your mouth, wash the mouthpiece, let it dry on the drying rack and store it in its case. Charge it with the included USB-C cable.
