Under-Eye Micro Infusion Dissolving Hyaluronic Microneedle Eye Patches

Each EvenSkyn patch contains 1,800 ultra-fine dissolving microneedles, each roughly 0.25 mm long, made from a solid serum of hyaluronic acid and peptides.

How they work. Pressed onto clean, dry skin, the microneedles are designed to open fine channels in the skin's outer layer and dissolve in its own moisture over the wear time. What they carry is released into the upper layers of the skin instead of sitting on the surface, and nothing is left to rinse off.

Do they hurt? Expect a light prickle when you press the patch on. It settles quickly. There are no metal needles. If you have not used a microneedle patch before, start with a 2-hour wear before you try overnight.

Wear each pair for at least 2 hours, or overnight. Use one pair, two nights a week, spaced apart, for example Monday and Thursday. At that pace the 1-Month Supply lasts about a month.

New to them, or reactive around the eyes? Start with one pair a week and a 2-hour wear for the first two weeks, then build up.

Not a daily patch. Keep to two nights a week. The formula contains a retinoid, hydroxypinacolone retinoate, so do not layer another retinoid on the same area.

A few minutes in the fridge before use adds a cooling feel. It is optional.

A trial of this patch has been run. Its method and results are not published, so we do not promise a timeline or give result percentages from it here.

What studies of similar patches found. In small trials of other dissolving hyaluronic acid microneedle patches, hydration and fine-line readings improved over four to eight weeks of regular use. The changes were modest. What the evidence shows, and what is published about this patch.

What to expect in practice. With patches of this kind, under-eye skin can look smoother and better hydrated the morning after, which is mostly hydration and does not last. Any softening in the look of fine, crepey lines is gradual, depends on keeping going, and fades if you stop.

What a patch cannot do. Fill a hollow, remove a bag caused by fat, or clear set pigment.

A cream or a hydrogel mask leaves its ingredients on the surface of the skin, where the outer barrier keeps most of them out. A microneedle patch is designed to open fine channels through that barrier and then dissolve, so what it carries is released just under the surface instead of on top of it.

That is a difference in delivery. No measurement of how much more of any ingredient gets in has been published for this patch, so we do not put a number on it.

Three: Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate and Arginine/Lysine Polypeptide. They are peptides used in skincare for the look of softened fine lines.

Where the evidence is. The best evidence is for the first. In a 29-day double-blind trial of another company's hyaluronic acid microneedle patch, the version carrying acetyl hexapeptide-8 improved wrinkle readings around the eyes more than the plain patch.

Where it stops. That trial used a stated dose in a different patch. We do not publish the amount of any ingredient in ours, so we do not claim the same result. The other two peptides have less published evidence, and none that we rely on for a claim.

Yes, with two rules. Apply the patch to clean, completely dry skin with nothing underneath, because anything on the surface stops the microneedles gripping and starts dissolving them early. And keep other retinoids off the same area, because the patch already contains one.

After you peel the patch off, carry on with your eye cream or moisturiser, and wear sunscreen in the morning.

We cannot promise that, and no patch can. The formula is fragrance-free and made for the under-eye area, but no safety or sensitive-skin trial of it has been published, and it contains a retinoid, which some people find irritating.

If your skin is reactive. Patch test on the inner arm first. Start with one pair a week and a 2-hour wear. A light prickle and a little short-lived pinkness are normal. Stop if you get burning, itching, swelling or a rash.

Do not use the patches if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive, on broken or inflamed skin, with active eczema or dermatitis around the eyes, or after recent eye surgery until your surgeon agrees. If you are in any doubt, ask a clinician first.

It depends on the cause, and a patch only helps with some of them.

Fine lines and a dry, crepey look. This is what patches of this kind are best suited to. Hydration and fine-line readings are what the published trials of similar patches measured.

Puffiness. Hydration, and a patch chilled in the fridge, can ease the look of morning puffiness for a while. This patch contains no caffeine.

Dark circles. If the shadow comes from dry, thin, crepey skin, a patch can soften the look of it. If it is set pigment, or blood vessels showing through, expect little.

Eye bags and hollows. Bags caused by fat and hollows caused by volume loss are structural. No patch changes them, and that is a conversation for a clinician.

How to tell which kind you have.

It depends on what is behind the bags. Puffiness from fluid and skin that has lost its bounce respond best: the hyaluronic acid micro-darts hydrate and plump the skin over the area, so morning puffiness and crepey texture look smoother, and a patch straight from the fridge adds a cooling, de-puffing feel. Bags caused by fat pads pushing forward are structural, and no patch, cream or mask changes that. Use both. The patches are a twice-weekly step and an eye cream is the daily one. On patch nights, apply the eye cream after you peel the patch off, not before.

Yes. The patches are unisex: under-eye skin behaves the same way, and the formula, the wear time and the application steps are identical. Apply them to clean, dry skin with nothing underneath, because the patch needs bare skin to grip and dissolve, and keep moisturiser and sunscreen for afterwards.
