How Dermal Filler like Botox Can Withstand Radiofrequency (RF) Treatment

A study conducted at the University of California was made to determine whether the use of nonablative rejuvenation laser or RF immediately after botulinum toxin treatment affects the efficacy of botulinum treatment. The result showed that there was no decrease in the efficacy of botulinum toxin injection. This showed that patients might be treated with RF lasers after BOTOX without loss of efficacy or any other apparent untoward effects (Davis, 2005).

Since 2001, RF therapy has been popularly used in skin clinics to treat wrinkles, sagging skin, and other signs of skin aging. Radiofrequency therapy works by activating the production of collagen, the protein in the body responsible for firmness. By using RF lasers, collagen is activated, thus tightening the skin.
